Kent M. Walker represents San Diego as one of the city's top intellectual property attorneys (2007 and 2009 Southern California Top Super Lawyers - San Diego, Intellectual Property Litigation category)
Mr. Walker is Nyddegger and Associates' Intellectual Property Litigation Partner and head of their San Diego Trademark, Advertising & Copyright practice group. Mr. Walker joined the Firm in 2010 and is resident in the San Diego, CA office.
Mr. Walker has been an aggressive, successful trial attorney in a variety of patent, trademark and copyright prosecution and commercial litigation cases for high-end technology clients. He has represented telecommunications and biotechnology firms, as well as in the manufacturing, video game hardware, analog integrated circuits, semiconductor processing, software, publishing and sporting equipment fields.
Prior to joining Nydegger and Associates, Mr. Walker was a Partner with the firm of Cooley, Godward and Kronish LLP; an associate attorney at the Los Angeles intellectual property and entertainment law firm of Fischbach, Perlstein, Lieberman and Yanny; a law clerk in the Civil Defense branch of the L.A. City Attorney's Office and an Industrial Engineer with the Southern California Gas Company.
Kent received a J.D. from Loyola Law School in Los Angeles in 1994. He received a Bachelor of Sciences degree in Engineering from Oklahoma State University in 1986 where he was selected as one of the Top Five graduating seniors in Engineering.
Mr. Walker is a member of the State Bar of California and is admitted to practice before the U.S. District Courts for the Southern, Central, Northern and Eastern Districts of California, the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the Federal and Ninth Circuits and the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
Litigation examples include: representing wireless telephone manufacturers in defense of telecommunication patent claims; automated telephone call processing system patent holders against multiple defendants; disease diagnostics companies in patent litigation and commercial arbitration; graphics chip manufacturing in patent defenses; drug discovery companies in jury trial over patent litigation; defending record company copyright claims; and representing local and state government in criminal trial prosecution.
